The last partner meeting of the Danube GeoHeCo project, which is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the Interreg Danube programme, took place in Nagyatád on 29-30 October 2024, organized by CROST Nonprofit Kft.

First, the mayor of Nagyatád welcomed the participants that arrived from eight different countries. In line with the project’s progress, the following topics were discusses:

– preparation and testing of the IT tool supporting the selection and installation of geothermal heat pumps;

– organisation of thematic working groups and forums (“deployment desks”) in partner countries, bringing together key public and private stakeholders from the sector;

– development of an internet platform linking the supply and demand sides of geothermal heat pumps.

On 30 October, the participants visited the heating system utilising the geothermal waste heat of Nagyatád with the use of heat pumps, which has been successfully operating for two years and is unique on a national level. It provides heat supply to several municipal institutions in Nagyatád from renewable energy, based entirely on the thermal energy of the thermal water of the spa, taken out from the previously used effluent water.
