Between July 21 and 24, our project partners took part in a four-day field trip, cycling from Szentgotthárd (HU) to Đurđevac (HR). The cycling route passed through the most beautiful landscapes of Hungary 🇭🇺, Slovenia 🇸🇮, and Croatia 🇭🇷, while the participants tested the infrastructure, services, and experience under real conditions.
During the trip, we paid special attention to sustainability: we examined the environmental impact (using Carmacal and IMS -impact measurement system- tools), the cyclability of each section 🚴, as well as the sights ⛪️🏞,, rest areas and accommodation 🏡🏢along the route. Cyclists rated the safety of the route, low traffic, well-developed rest areas, and local hospitality positively. In our experience, the route is also great for intermediate cyclists, and the landscape is impressively diverse: historical monuments, living rivers, gastronomic experiences, and artistic heritage enrich the tour.
We will use the results of the testing to develop the final cycling tourism package so that we can offer an even more comfortable, enjoyable, and sustainable tour for everyone in the future! We would like to thank the participants, our partners, and all local service providers for their support!🙏 Join us on our next tours or discover the unique world of the Iron Curtain Trail for yourself!
