We are pleased to inform everyone that the Nagyatád geothermal development has been included in the INTERREG EUROPE good practice list!

In the city of Nagyatád, a geothermal heat pump system installed in 2022 captures waste heat from a central thermal well (800 m³/day, 25-30°C) to fully replace gas heating in 7 municipality buildings, among them in key tourism sites — the Thermal and Medicinal Spa, Tourism Center, and Cultural Center. These popular facilities, welcoming thousands annually, now operate fossil-free. This cost-effective, sustainable system cuts emissions and energy costs, illustrating how geothermal waste heat can decarbonise spa tourism infrastructure. It bolsters regional competitiveness while supporting EU climate targets and the 2050 climate neutrality vision.
